Would you drive a new Toyota that was hydrogen-powered?

December 17, 2013 By Spencer Siviglia

At our family of dealerships, we’re well aware that we have a pretty big selection of eco-friendly vehicles on the table. We host the entire Toyota Prius family near Orlando; not to mention, we’ve got hybrid versions of the Toyota Camry, Toyota Avalon, and Toyota Highlander. If you want a way to go green without having to change too many of your daily habits, hopping behind the wheel of one of these hybrids is a good way to go about it! However, a new eco-friendly ride might be headed your way – what have you heard about hydrogen-powered cars?

When will hydrogen power be introduced to our new Toyota near Orlando?

Probably not TOO much; these vehicles are relatively unheard of up until this point, but that’s all about to change! Many major automotive manufacturers have been playing with the idea of making hydrogen cars, and Toyota is pulling ahead of the pack. They’re currently working on a hydrogen-powered Fuel Cell Vehicle that – if all goes according to plan – would be hitting our lots sometime in 2015! Would you want to drive a hydrogen-powered new Toyota near Orlando?

What would be the benefits of having a hydrogen-powered new Toyota?

What would be the perks if your next new Toyota near Orlando ran off of hydrogen fuel? Here’s the breakdown:

Eco-friendliness: Although our new Toyota hybrids near Orlando are pretty eco-friendly – they run off of an electric motor AND a gasoline engine to cut down on emissions – a hydrogen-powered new Toyota would be virtually emissions free.  The only thing coming out of the tailpipe is water vapor, which can make your drive time greener than ever!

Resources: Think about how expensive it’s gotten to gas up your traditionally-powered new Toyota near Orlando. Pretty pricey, right? With a hydrogen-powered vehicle, you can get fuel from a variety of resources including oil, natural gas, coal, and even biological products like livestock and landfill waste! Talk about endless availability … and MUCH lower prices!

Efficiency: We have a slew of new Toyota options that are super fuel efficient and a great selection of hybrid cars up for grabs, but we also can see the huge efficiency possibilities that would come from utilizing hydrogen power! Hydrogen fuel has a higher density than gasoline does. Basically, these cars can travel longer distances on much less fuel than a gasoline car could ever achieve!

US independence: We get a lot of the resources used to make gasoline from other countries – if we were to depend on hydrogen power instead, we could become more independent in our fuel sources and the cost to drive would undoubtedly drop a significant amount!

So, when can we expect to see these incredible options at our family of dealerships? If projections are true, it could be by the year 2015! Toyota is expecting to have these cars out on the market and sell between 5,000 and 10,000 vehicles upon release. Even better news? It’s being hypothesized that these extraordinary cars will be price-competitive with other eco-friendly options, expanding your selection of green vehicles even further!
