The second annual Toyota of Clermont Turkey Trot took place this past weekend at the South Lake Historical Society and our family of dealerships is proud to announce that it was a huge success! The 5K race/walk was put on in order to raise money for two local non-profit organizations in Lake County, and over 350 participants laced up their shoes and hit the track to help raise funds! We were thrilled to see so many racers come out and support these two fantastic causes and appreciate their help in supporting Lake County!
Toyota of Clermont Turkey Trot had over 350 participants
The two non-profits that benefitted from the 2013 Toyota of Clermont Turkey Trot included Back to School is Cool (Lake County) and the South Lake Historical Society. We’ve got a little bit more information about both of these exceptional organizations to share!
Back to School is Cool (Lake County) is a local Lake County organization that works for make sure that local school children have the tools they need to achieve academic success. They collect items like toiletries, underwear, socks, backpacks, school supplies, and outerwear to ensure that children are comfortable and equipped when they head to the classroom. Back to School is Cool works directly with the Lake County school system, and provides these goods to the kids free of cost. They also assist students in finding scholarships and financial aid, This organization is absolutely essential to ensuring that these homeless and underprivileged children are successful!
The South Lake Historical Society is an integral part of Lake County’s history! This non-profit organization works to preserve and maintain local historical buildings. They have purchased and now run the Clermont Historical Village, which consists of the Quonset Hut World War II Museum, the Cooper Memorial Library, the Herring Hooks Schoolhouse, the Kern House, the Townsend House, and the Train Depot! The South Lake Historical Society takes the time to preserve these special parts of Lake County’s history, and conduct tours to show visitors just how early folks lived in Lake County. They’re an integral part of preserving local history!
