Toyota to introduce a hybrid truck!

July 24, 2013 By Spencer Siviglia

Attention, hybrid fans! Toyota has made a recent announcement that after two years of intensive research, they’re on their way to creating and implementing a new Toyota hybrid truck! The automotive giant has been teamed up in its research efforts with Ford for the past two years; together, the companies were able to conduct extensive efforts into figuring out how they could meld hybrid technology with a rear-wheel drive truck and obtain a powerful but fuel-efficient result!

Toyota and Ford concentrated efforts on a new Toyota hybrid rear-wheel drive system

It should be interesting to see what Toyota comes up with – new Toyota hybrids in Orlando are typically front-wheel drive, which just doesn’t work when you’re trying to haul and tow heavy loads. In order to get that kind of power, you need a rear-wheel drive system, and that’s what Toyota and Ford were pondering during their combined research efforts. Our family of dealerships can’t wait to see what new Toyota truck might be making its way onto the lot at Toyota of Orlando and Toyota of Clermont!

Orlando Toyota hybridsWhat’s so great about new Toyota hybrids in Orlando, anyway, and why would a truck option be in demand? Well, the list is lengthy, but we’ll break down the basics for you. (And don’t forget, we have two amazing locations where you can test drive hybrid cars to your heart’s content!)

  • First of all, hybrid cars utilize special technology that integrates the efforts of both a gasoline engine and an electric motor to power the car. The two work in conjunction; when you’re driving at slower speeds or idling, the electric motor takes control. When you’re quickly accelerating or traveling at higher rates of speed, the gasoline engine takes the wheel. This technology allows for greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
  • When we say that new Toyota hybrids offer better fuel efficiency, we really mean it – for example, look at the 2013 Toyota Prius in Orlando. This world-famous hybrid brings 50 mpg combined to the table, which means a lot fewer stops at the gas pump than if you were driving a gas-powered car.  Other hybrids offer similar savings; we even have a hybrid SUV at our family of dealerships. The powerful Toyota Highlander Hybrid seats seven with room to spare, but still delivers an unbelievable 28 mpg combined!
  • If you’re a go-greener, then new Toyota hybrids should definitely be your mode of transportation. By using an electric motor part of the time, they cut down drastically on emissions – the emissions that form smog, in particular. All you have to do to help out the planet is get behind the wheel!

What would a new Toyota hybrid truck in Orlando mean for you?

So, how would this hybrid technology benefit a truck driver? Not only could you feel good about doing your part for mother Earth, you’d also be saving on gas. Trucks are notorious gas guzzlers, so by utilizing an electric motor part of the time, you could save big!

We’ll keep you posted on Toyota’s progress, but in the meantime come down to Toyota of Orlando (just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall, 888-725-3520) or the new Toyota of Clermont (west of the Florida turnpike on State Road 50, 888-590-6090) to see our family’s amazing selection of hybrids AND trucks! We’ll see you soon!
