The 2014 World Cup games weren’t the only exciting sporting events going on this weekend, as racing fans were able to enjoy watching the Toyota/Save Mart 350! We’re die-hard race car fans here at Toyota of Clermont and we know there’s a huge audience here is Central Florida that feels the same. Our enthusiasm for this sport is partially because of the close relationship Toyota has with NASCAR and the fact that we get the chance to see what some of our new Toyota near Orlando are capable of! It gets us even more pumped when we get the chance to watch a race hosting by Toyota like the Toyota/Save Mart 350!
Carl Edwards finishes first at the Toyota/Save Mart 350!
If you missed the Toyota/Save Mart 350 Sunday, you sure missed an exhilarating race! The Toyota/Save Mart 350 is part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at took place at the Sonoma Raceway. It was definitely an eventful race to watch, as we were able to see some of the best in the game hit the racetrack, including:
- Jeff Gordon
- AJ Allmendinger
- Tony Stewart
- Dale Earnhardt Jr.
- Clint Bowyer
- Kurt Busch
- Kevin Harvick
And more! However, even with all of the big-name racers, Carl Edwards took home the first-place trophy, making it his first career Sprint Cup road course victory! Although Edwards didn’t finish the race in a new Toyota near Orlando, he gave a great performance. Here’s a quick recap of what you missed from the Toyota Save Mart 350:
- The race started with Jamie McMurray in the lead, which lasted for about eight laps until he was passed by AJ Allmendinger.
- Allmendinger’s lead ended when he was in a collision with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on lap 86. This took Allmendinger out of the race, but Earnhardt Jr. was able to snag third place overall.
- Edwards took the lead for the first time at lap 86 with Gordon close behind him.
- In lap 103, Gordon sped into second place and began to run down Edwards. Although Gordon almost passed Edwards on turn 11, Edwards held his lead and finished in first place!
New Toyota near Orlando hit the NASCAR race tracks!
