Learn how to change a car tire from Toyota of Orlando
If you face the unfortunate event of having a tire go flat, we’re sharing the tips for you to take when it happens! By changing the flat tire yourself, you can save a lot of time and money. You won’t have to wait for someone to come help you, and you won’t have to pay for a towing service to bring your car to an auto service center. If you’re driving and hear that dreaded thump and feel your car begin to shake and slightly lose control, follow these Toyota service in Orlando steps!
Step #1: Pull over! Do not keep driving if you have a tire go flat! Our Orlando Toyota service techs suggest pulling way off of the road to a safe spot and turning on your hazard lights.
Step #2: Remove the hubcaps and loosen the lug nuts. By taking off the hubcaps you have access to the wheel and the lug nuts. Using the lug wrench and some brute upper body strength, loosen the lug nuts slightly.
Step #3: Before you remove the lug nuts completely, jack up the car about 6 to 7 inches off of the ground. Make sure to check your owner’s manual to identify exactly where you should place the car jack under the car for the safest and tightest fit!
Step #4: Once you’ve lifted your car slightly (and safely) off of the ground, completely remove the lug nuts and pull the wheel off. Give it a good tug and make sure to pull straight forward!
Step #5: Replace the old, flat tire with your car’s spare tire. Push the new wheel back on; be sure to push it on straight! Tighten the lug nuts back on and replace the hubcap. Ensure the wheel is on securely and voila!
It’s important not to drive too far on a spare tire as they are made to only be a temporary fix! Once you have that spare tire on, drive on into our Orlando Toyota Service Center for a new car tire replacement! We’re located at 3575 Vineland Rd., just off of I-4 near the Millenia Mall!
