Change your oil in 4 easy steps from our Orlando Toyota service techs
Once you’ve purchased the correct oil and oil filter, and have gathered the tools and materials you need – you’re ready to perform an oil change yourself!
- Safely jack your car up and rest it on the jack stands. Once you know your car is secure, get underneath and locate the drain plug. Place the oil drain pan underneath, and remove the plug using the wrench. Allow the old oil to drain completely; this should take about 5 to 6 minutes. Don’t forget to put the drain plug back in securely!
- Locate the oil filter on the underneath of your car. Just in case, move the oil pan below the oil filter. Once you’ve found it, use the oil filter wrench to remove it. Dispose of the old, used oil filter and replace it with the new oil filter. For a tight seal, smear a small amount of oil around the gasket of the new filter.
- Ensure the drain plug is tightly replaced and you’re ready to add the new oil! Locate the oil fill hole under the hood and use the funnel to pour the new oil in carefully. Be sure to consult your owner’s manual or our Orlando auto service techs for the correct oil and the proper amount. Once you’ve added the new oil, replace the fill cap.
- Turn your car’s engine on and make sure everything is running correctly and smoothly. It’s best to let it run for a few minutes. After several minutes of running, safely lower your vehicle back to the ground and voila! You’ve just done an oil change yourself!
