Can you believe we are only 9 days away from Christmas? The month is flying by, but it might run a bit more slowly for the little ones. The anticipation of Santa and presents under the tree can make even the adults a bit antsy! To help make their time go a bit faster, our Orlando family of dealerships put their heads together to make a list of fun activities to do with your kids this holiday. Let’s get started, shall we?
Entertain your kids with these fun Christmas activities!
1. Decorate your own Christmas stockings.
A fun way to commemorate Christmas is by having the kids decorate their own stockings. Many stores now come with plain stockings that are blank canvases just waiting for your little Picassos to personalize them and make them their own. Grab some red and green felt, pom poms, string, and bells, and have some family fun!
2. Encourage kids to donate their old toys.
There’s no time like the present to teach your children about the joy of giving back. A great way to do that is to donate used toys together! Have a day where both you and the kids clear out the toys they no longer use (to make room for the ones Santa is bringing) and give it to children in need.
3. Host a Christmas cookie party.
Christmas and cookies go hand-in-hand in many households. If your family enjoys the delight of baking holiday cookies, make it an official event! Buy fun-shaped cookie cutters, colorful icing, and sprinkles, and get to decorating some Christmas cookies as a family.
4. Write reflection letters to Santa.
December is a great time to reflect on the year and remember why we’re grateful, and you can never start too early! Have your little ones write a letter to Santa about what they are thankful for and what they remember best about the past year. They can even get creative and decorate it as Santa’s very own Christmas card.
5. Have a holiday movie night.
Sometimes, the best family moments are spent on the couch! So, instead of going out to the movies, have a Christmas movie night in with the kids! Some fun family Christmas movies to watch are:
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas
- The Santa Claus
- A Christmas Story
6. DIY Christmas cards.
Do you like to hand out Christmas cards to the rest of the family during the holidays? If so, then why not ask your little helpers to assist in their creation? It’s a great, hands-on way to keep them entertained and it doubles as a check off your holiday to-do list. You can even use leftover crafting materials from your DIY stockings to make them!
7. Listen to “Every Christmas Story Ever Told”.
Looking to get out of the house? Head over to the Orlando Shakespeare Theater and get an irreverent look at your favorite holiday stories in this funny, family-friendly show!
Happy Holidays from our Orlando family of dealerships to yours!
We hope your Christmas is special, warm, merry, and bright.
