Are you looking for a hauntingly good time this Halloween weekend? If you dare, take a trip to some of the most haunted places in Florida! We’ve got a shortlist of the places worth a spooky visit:
- Apollo 1 Launch Complex 34, Cape Canaveral
In 1967, a tragic, failed launch pad test led to the deaths of three astronauts. In the years to follow, it has been said the site is haunted by the brave souls of astronauts White, Chaffee, and Grissom. Many who have toured the launch pad have claimed to be overcome with extreme sadness or fear near the area where the men lost their lives. Visitors also reportedly heard loud screams emanating from the launch pad.
Launch Complex 34 is open to the public, and it makes for a fascinating walk through a dark piece of NASA history!
- St. Augustine Lighthouse, St. Augustine
Since its construction in 1874, several people have passed away in or near the St. Augustine Lighthouse. The most famous story is that of the deceased Pettee girls. Their father was hired to work on the lighthouse, and the girls, both in their early teenage years, got in a construction cart that rolled into the Bay. Unfortunately, no one could reach them quickly enough, and they drowned. It’s said they haunt the lighthouse still. People have claimed to hear children’s laughter and footsteps on the stairs, among many other occurrences.
If you’re up for conducting a paranormal investigation of the lighthouse, they have exclusive guided tours! We recommend you book in advance, as there is limited space available.
- Sunland Mental Hospital, Orlando
The Orlando Sunland Mental Hospital was a children’s hospital for the mentally ill built in the 1960s. It closed in 1983 after a lawsuit regarding reports of abuse and neglect forced the state of Florida to shut down the facility. The vacant building often attracted break-ins due to the stories of it being haunted until it was demolished in 1998.
The spot where the hospital once was is now a playground rumored to be haunted by the spirits of the children who were once patients there.
- Tampa Theatre, Tampa
If you’ve ever been to the Tampa Theatre, you know of its majestic appeal! But did you know that this beautiful building is also one of the most haunted ones in town? Many employees say they have experienced paranormal events when alone in the theater.

- Ma Barker’s House, Ocklawaha
Ma Barker was the mother of several criminals who ran the Barker gang during the “public enemy era.” Notably, she was listed as the #1 most wanted fugitive in the United States. Ma Barker and one of her sons died in this hideout house following an hours-long shoot-out with the FBI.
It’s said the spirits of the Barkers haunt the home place still, and visitors claim to see Ma Barker roaming the house. Eerily enough, not only is the original furniture still in place, but the house is up for sale!
We hope you have a frightfully delightful Halloween!
