Summer in Florida is hot! Besides hiding in the air conditioning, you can beat the heat by getting out on the water! Whether you’re on a boat or a board, in saltwater or freshwater – you can stay cool this summer by getting out and having some summer fun on the water! Here in Central Florida, and all around our peninsula state, there are different activities for you and your family and friends to do in the water or on the water!
Florida Summers on the Water
If you want to get out on the open water, but you’re not sure where to start, check out some activities our Orlando Toyota dealerships have gathered for you!
Just 40 minutes from Orlando is Lone Cabbage Fish Camp, where they offer delicious food, cold drinks and airboat rides! Travel down the St. John’s River and Lake Poinsett on an airboat that travels up to 45 mph. These bodies of water are marshy and sometimes shallow, but that’s what airboats were made for. Powered by a giant electric fan, these crafts glide across the top of the water. On your 30 minute, 60 minute, or 90 minute ride, your airboat captain will point out different animals, plants, and other parts of wildlife that inhabit the area! You can even get up close and personal with an alligator!
Kayaking, Paddle boarding, and Canoeing
If you own a canoe or kayak, consider putting in and soaking up some sun for the day! If you don’t own one, but a day paddling out on the water seems appealing, there are a handful of places you can rent kayaks or canoes here in Central Florida. In fact, a lot of places even offer tours; places like Florida’s Adventures in Paradise. They offer excursions into the Intercoastal waterways around Cocoa Beach. You can see wildlife like birds, fish, turtles, stingrays, and even manatees and dolphins. They also offer stand-up paddle boarding tours that allow you to see the same wildlife. If you visit De Leon Springs State Park, you can rent a canoe and paddle to your heart’s content out in the Lake Woodruff Wildlife Refuge.
Do you want to get out in the open water and reel in some big fish? Get on a charter and head out for a day of deep-sea fishing! Canaveral Offshore Adventures offers deep-sea fishing charters where you can catch large fish like Mahi-Mahi, Cobia, Snapper, Wahoo, and Tuna. These trips can be kind of expensive, but you’re also getting help from professional fishermen and using professional equipment like rods, reels, and tackle.
If you’re an adrenaline junkie who needs some fun and thrills this summer, hop on a jet ski and cruise on the top of the water. You can rent jet skis and enjoy them with your friends and family from places like Makaio Watersports. This company will deliver jet skis to a handful of different water locations for your convenience!
Spend your summer enjoying the beautiful waters and nature of our state!
